| I'm Hearing All Kinds of Nifty Things |
[Feb. 12th, 2010|09:51 am] |
Well kids, it’s me again, and boy do I have a doozie of a story to tell. This won’t be long, so long as I don’t start a rant about it, but then again, that’s why you’re here isn’t it; a good rant? As some of you may know, I was fired from Spencers at Carolina Place Mall a few weeks ago for the following: accepting items as gifts that were damages/discards, when a vast majority of the time I didn’t know they were discards, because as a Supervisor I was not responsible for handling them. The other Supervisor did the discards because the Assistant Manager—who is SUPPOSED to do them—didn’t think it was all that important to have them done at a reasonable and responsible time. Don’t you love useless people? But then again, this is the same girl who didn’t think it was important to take empty boxes out the nights she closed because “Oh, they can do that in the morning”. It’s called your JOB. Fuckin DO it.
But I digress, I could talk about that girl in a whole separate entry. Anyhoos, I was informed that it’s being said that people got fired from Spencers for stealing. Now, while that might be technically true of the one who took the merchandise—even though she took it after the company decided it was worthless and not sellable, can the same really be said for me? I was given stuff I didn’t know was discarded. And here’s the kicker. The other girl and myself were the ONLY ones fired, and yet I was NOT the only one working there to accept offered items. There are associates working there right now who also accepted gifts, who weren’t even questioned! Can anyone else smell the bullshit here? Let’s forget how my former District Manager has pretty much been looking for a way to fire me, including going so low as to cite a rule in the handbook saying employees couldn’t work at the same store if they lived together. Unfortunately for him, there’s this thing called Ex-Post Facto: my roommate and I lived together before that was instated, not to mention I’ve been staying at my boyfriend’s for half a year now due to lack of a car. So no, we haven’t been living together. Take that, and shove it up your ass Richard.
So now back to the point here… it would seem as if someone’s been trying to find a way to get me fired, and this was their chance for doing it. If they want to be shady and underhanded I don’t care, it’s the singling me out when I wasn’t the only one that I find tasteless. On top of that, lying about my reason for being let go. Why not just come out with it: “We were trying to find a way to get rid of Daphne, but didn’t have any real reason, so this was good enough; we tried giving her shitty hours once, but that didn’t work.” And upon rereading my nifty little piece of pink paper they gave me, I found that it said that I “admitted to removing discards and damages from the store”… um, No. That’s not what I said when I wrote down my statement. I was gifted items, and I was not given these items in the store. So nice way to lie on that one to make it seem more valid. I also have a VERY strong suspicion that some people—namely the talk-your-ear-off-till-she-influences-you Assistant Manager—discriminate. I hate to pull the race card on this, but let’s look at a few things.
The other supervisor gets fired for taking discarded merchandise. Ok, that’s to be expected. I get questioned, and then fired for accepting the merchandise without knowing it was discarded previously as well as giving extra discounts to customers when they bought stuff. Now… for one thing, I was definitely not the only one in that god-forsaken store who accepted merchandise from the other Supervisor, and yet I was the only one questioned? As for the discards, I sure as hell wasn’t the 1st and only one to give out discounts, especially to help sell those stupid contest items. Ok, so there go 2 of the 3 black employees at the store. Now comes the question of who gets promoted. One was a relatively new guy who started last year Halloween. The other was a girl who’s been there for a few years—2 or 3 perhaps—who hasn’t had prior managerial training. Normally this wouldn’t make me bat an eyelash except for one thing: the 3rd black employee there—who could certainly use the additional pay and hours because she’s a mother—was not considered for promotion. What pisses me off about this is that she’s not only a manager for Spirit Halloween during the Halloween season, but she’s one of the Hiring Managers. MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE! How the fuck was she not one of the 1st choices?? Oh wait, I know the answer to that: because she’ll actually stand up to the Assistant Manager, and because she isn’t one of that girl’s “favorites”. Yes, favoritism is the key word in that store. Favoritism and Bullshit. I’m soooo glad I don’t have to deal with that... well unless I get convinced to sue them for unfair treatment and racism… I do know a few really good lawyers.. |

| It's a Celebration Bitches! |
[Jan. 29th, 2010|10:44 am] |
Well now.. there's a LOT that's been going on since I last wrote in this thing to say the least. I'm going to abridge and hit only the highlights, so yer entertained, while not being bored too much with my ramblings lol.
Lately I've been swamped with keeping my hands in multiple cookie jars so to speak. I'm doing photography a bit now, and using the name "NI Photography". I'm pretty pleased with what I've done so far; one of my pics is going to be used for a flyer for an event ^_^. I've had a few shows, and they've been pretty good, the most recent one coming up being Decadence Project in Feb. I'm pretty excited about it, cuz I'm going to be doing Pony Play. And my order from Stockroom has come in according to my roommate, meaning I am now the proud owner of 3 bit gags ^_^ woot! Now to wait for my floggers and my nifty new clothes to come in!
I'm recording a demo CD, and I've got one of the songs down already. Now to work on the other 2 songs. So far, I'm pretty pleased with the way things are working out.
I was terminated from Spencers on Wednesday. There was an investigation of another sales supervisor for taking discarded merchandise and gifting them to people in the store. Because I'd gotten some of those as gifts, I was asked questions. Wasn't all that surprised they'd spin it to make it sound like I directly took stuff, after I told them I was given the stuff as gifts, and--considering I never did the discards--didn't know it was a discard until days later. But whatever; I was planning on putting in a 2 weeks' notice anyway. That place was slowly going downhill and it was irking me. Besides that, the assistant manager is useless and the District Manager is a douchebag. I have a full time job, and now I have more free time to get some important things done; like yesterday, I got a tattoo.
The tattoo I originally had on my shoulderblade was a dragon perched on a dagger. It was done (poorly) by some war-vet looking guy with a heavy hand. I swear the dragon looked like it had some kind of mental disorder. So I've been thinking about covering it up. My new tat is amazing, and the artist did a great coverup job. It's an Ankh, with a wingless dragon encircling it, about to eat its own tail. So I now have the Egyptian symbol for Eternal Life, and the Babylonian symbol for Change on my shoulderblade, and this tat is about 2-3 times the size of the tat it's covering. I think I've upgraded :) |

| [ | Current Music |
| | Michael Jackson "You Are Not Alone" | ] | So yeah.. this has certainly been a fun week to say the least. Notice the dripping sarcasm coming from that? I honestly didn’t think I could feel this low. I honestly passed depressed and went to blank. Monday this week I cut the inside of my lip deeply when I accidentally banged it on my car. It’s still hurting. Tuesday, my roommate was trying to fix the water heater in the outside closet and accidentally broke one of my mom’s lamps. I’m not mad at her, but I did all of a sudden feel very depressed about it. She died when I was 12, so everything I have of hers—in use, useful, or not—I cherish. My low mood killed a majority of what I’d planned to do that day, not to mention my shoot was suddenly cancelled. Wednesday my cat knocked over my vase of dried flowers that I’d had since I moved in to my townhouse, and had been working on for a year to get just right. Almost half the bouquet has been ruined now. Moving on to Thursday, I get news that I’m not where I need to be as far as my guitar, and with the timeframe we’re looking at, I won’t be ready in time; so I’m no longer the guitarist for Paris Oroborus. My afternoon was spent watching the 6th Harry Potter DVD, which I bought on Wednesday to counter feeling depressed: I tend to want to buy things when I’m depressed. And if my week wasn’t already complete... my car gets repossessed last night. Aside from clothes, and my domme bag.. I had my ipod, my prescription, my planner.. and oh yes… my wallet with my ID and Wachovia card. I managed to find out where my car is today, and I paid a service fee so I can go and get my stuff out of it. They’re open on Tuesday and Thursday so I’m going as early as possible to clear my car of everything. This week has me feeling more broken and beaten down than I’ve ever felt before. I have to say though, I do feel lucky that I have people who care enough—or are just that damn stubborn—to be there for me. You all know who you are and I love you for that.
And thank my wifey for the song that’s now stuck in my head.. heh. |

| BUYER BEWARE: Dementia Clothing |
[Apr. 27th, 2009|09:23 am] |
I’d like to take a moment to make a public service announcement for anyone interested in buying cybergear of any kind. Dementia Clothing is one clothing company that is NOT worth your time in the least. While she has some interesting designs, her business practices are far below standard. I am not writing this to flame Lectra Paris or Dementia Clothing; I’m writing this as a warning for people who are considering buying.
I personally have been waiting nearly 6 months now for items that were supposedly shipped 2 and a half weeks ago—so she claimed. Interestingly enough, she never gave me a tracking number, or any form of proof that she mailed my order for that matter; she merely changed my status on her site to “delivered”. Before that, it had been 5 months of receiving no response from her on a $92 order. In order to get a response, I had to threaten to report her to the Better Business Bureau, and gave her a deadline to respond to me, which she did just to buy herself some time. She gave me an excuse of not having enough money for shipping, to which I gave her an additional $10 to cover the cost. That is over $100 invested in an outfit. She has been ignoring my emails on purpose.
I am not the only one. She has not fulfilled orders for many other customers. Patrick Von Fatal of F1lth on Demand for example has been waiting for well over a year with no form of contact from Lectra. I have also heard personally that Jett of Vampire Freaks has also been very much screwed over by Lectra and Dementia Clothing. This is just a very small sample of what I’m sure are hundreds upon hundreds of others. Not only will you not receive your order, but you will not receive a refund either.
To back up my claims further, feel free to look at the Better Business Bureau website for yourself, where you will see she has a rating of F. I’ve included the link here: http://www.bbb.org/connecticut/business-reviews/clothing-retail/dementia-clothing-in-new-haven-ct-87057539 She has already been reported 3 times, and I filed my report prior to typing this announcement. That’s 4 reports against Dementia Clothing.
I don’t know about anyone else, but had I known about this before, I would have not wasted my money on Dementia Clothing. I hope that others aren’t duped into losing valuable time and money; and to those who have: I hope you speak up as well. |
